Ranchi, June 19: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) national president Asaduddin Owaisi reached Ranchi on Sunday at around 1 pm. Workers associated with the organisation were present at Birsa Munda Airport to welcome him.

As soon as the party supremo Owaisi came out of the airport, the workers welcomed him with flowers. In the meantime, slogans of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ were also raised. Owaisi left for the Mandar assembly to address the Mandar by-election meeting directly from the airport.

Before leaving for Mandar, Owaisi addressed the media personnel present at the airport and said that he was here to meet the families that had lost their children in the violence of June 10. However, the state government did not allow him to meet the families. “In such a situation, we will be going to attend the public meeting held for the election in Mandar.”

Notably, the AIMIM president Owaisi has reached Ranchi to campaign for independent candidate Dev Kumar Dhan in the by-elections for the Mandar assembly seat of Jharkhand’s capital on June 23. Owaisi’s election meeting is to be held in Chanho block. The administration has made special security arrangements in Mandar and Ranchi in view of Owaisi’s election meeting.

The AIMIM President will seek votes in favor of former BJP candidate Dev Kumar for the Mandar by-election. Notably, Kumar was a candidate in the 2019 elections and was given a ticket instead of the party’s sitting MLA Gangotri Kujur, however, Bandhu Tirkey had then defeated Kumar. Tirkey’s legislature ended after he was found to be having more money than he earns, after which, the by-election was announced. Tirkey has fielded his daughter Shilpa Neha Tirkey from the Congress quota for the election.
