Several districts in southern Gujarat and Saurashtra had heavy to very heavy rain on Saturday, which resulted in a flood-like situation in urban areas and the isolation of villages as dams and rivers’ water levels rose to dangerous levels.

After a rise in the discharge of the Hathnikund barrage into the river as a result of heavy rain in some areas of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, the Yamuna in Delhi again crossed the danger level on Sunday.

A further rise in the river’s water level is anticipated to have an impact on the relief and rehabilitation efforts in the low-lying flood-affected parts of the city, according to officials.
