Jamshedpur, Feb 11: An automatic washing plant became operational at the Tatanagar railway station for better upkeep and maintenance of train coaches.
The Rs 2.11 crore automatic plant installed at the washing line of Tatanagar railway station would help in primary maintenance of all trains originating from Tatanagar railway station.
The primary maintenance involves cleaning of train coaches with water.
Officials informed that the automatic washing plant is equipped with a sensor that will prevent water from getting wasted during the cleaning process of train coaches.
The automatic plant would use 60 litres of water for cleaning a train coach. The used water can be recycled for further cleaning of coaches.
Station director H K Balmuchu said the automatic washing plant will take 15 minutes to clean a train coach.
“This was the first such automatic washing plant installed in South Eastern Railway’s Chakradharpur railway division. The second such automatic washing plant would soon come up at the Rourkela railway station,” he said.
Notably, the Tatanagar railway station assumes importance as it falls on the Howrah -Mumbai main trunk route.
Over a dozen mails, express and passenger trains currently originate from the Tatanagar railway station.
