Patna: Political reactions have intensified in Bihar after the murder of Sultanpur Nagar Parishad Executive Officer Krishna Bhushan Kumar and the subsequent police encounter of the main accused in Bhagalpur. Leaders from both ruling and opposition camps have exchanged sharp statements.

Manjhi Attacks Tejashwi
Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi targeted opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav on social media. Praising Bhagalpur Police, he said the “new Bihar” would respond strongly to violence and crime. His remarks quickly drew political attention.

RJD Hits Back Over Law and Order
The Rashtriya Janata Dal criticised the government, calling the incident proof of deteriorating law and order in the state. Party spokesperson Arun Kumar Yadav said if government officers are unsafe, concerns over public safety become even more serious.

CM Announces Compensation
Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary expressed grief over the officer’s death and announced financial assistance of ₹25 lakh for the bereaved family. He also said the last rites would be conducted with state honours.

What Happened
Krishna Bhushan Kumar was shot dead inside the office premises on Tuesday evening. In the same attack, chairman Raj Kumar alias Guddu was also injured. Within hours, police launched action and killed the main accused Ramdhani Yadav in an encounter. He is reported to be the husband of the deputy chairperson of Sultanpur Nagar Parishad.
