New Delhi: The Bhartiya Kisan Parishad (BKP), led by Sukhbir Khalifa, begins its march to Delhi today, December 2, to demand compensation and benefits as per new agricultural laws. The march is expected to commence from the Maha Maya flyover in Noida at noon, with farmers gathering to voice their concerns.

The BKP is not alone; other farmer organizations, including the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) and the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM, non-political), have also announced plans for similar marches starting from December 6.

Delhi Traffic Police Advisory

To manage disruptions, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued the following advisories:

•Vehicle Diversions: Stringent checks are being conducted at all major Noida-Delhi borders.

•Heavy Vehicle Restrictions: Goods vehicles are prohibited on routes such as the Yamuna Expressway to Delhi via Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and from Sirsa to Surajpur via Parichowk.

•Alternate Routes for Passenger Vehicles:

•Chilla Border to Greater Noida: Sector 14-A flyover → Golchakkar Chowk Sector-15 → Sandeep Paper Mill Chowk → Jhunjhupura Chowk.

•DND Border to Delhi: Film City flyover → Sector-18 → Elevated Road.

•Kalindi Border to Delhi: Mahamaya flyover → Sector-37.

•Greater Noida to Delhi: Via Charkha roundabout → Kalindi Kunj or Hajipur underpass → Kalindi Kunj through Sector-51 and Model Town.

•Yamuna Expressway Traffic: Exit at Jewar toll → Khurja → Jahangirpur.

•Peripheral Expressway Traffic: Avoid Sirsa exit → Use Dadri or Dasna exits for Delhi.

Advisory for Commuters: The police have strongly advised using Metro services to avoid congestion. A traffic helpline at 9971009001 has been set up for real-time updates.

Farmer Organizations Join In

The Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee (KMSC) announced that farmers protesting at the Shambhu border (Punjab-Haryana border) will also march to Delhi on December 6. Their demands include a guaranteed Minimum Support Price (MSP) and timely procurement of crops.

Government’s Reaction

Haryana Agriculture Minister Shyan Singh Rana criticized the farmers’ march, dismissing the protest as baseless. He accused the organizers of creating unnecessary unrest, claiming, “The previous agitation had a valid issue—the three farm laws. Those were repealed, and even an apology was made by PM Narendra Modi. These new protests are unfounded.”

Rana added, “Rice miller industries from Punjab have moved to Bihar and Madhya Pradesh. The farmers should resolve their concerns with their state governments.”

Background of Protests

Farmers have been raising concerns over delays in paddy procurement and demanding better MSP guarantees. Earlier protests in Punjab saw blockades on national highways in Phagwara, Sangrur, Moga, and Batala, highlighting persistent issues faced by the agricultural community.
