Farmer Organizations Join In
The Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee (KMSC) announced that farmers protesting at the Shambhu border (Punjab-Haryana border) will also march to Delhi on December 6. Their demands include a guaranteed Minimum Support Price (MSP) and timely procurement of crops.
Government’s Reaction
Haryana Agriculture Minister Shyan Singh Rana criticized the farmers’ march, dismissing the protest as baseless. He accused the organizers of creating unnecessary unrest, claiming, “The previous agitation had a valid issue—the three farm laws. Those were repealed, and even an apology was made by PM Narendra Modi. These new protests are unfounded.”
Rana added, “Rice miller industries from Punjab have moved to Bihar and Madhya Pradesh. The farmers should resolve their concerns with their state governments.”
Background of Protests
Farmers have been raising concerns over delays in paddy procurement and demanding better MSP guarantees. Earlier protests in Punjab saw blockades on national highways in Phagwara, Sangrur, Moga, and Batala, highlighting persistent issues faced by the agricultural community.
