Patna: The Bihar Education Department has taken strong action against negligent officials, issuing show cause notices to District Programme Officers (DPOs) in 38 districts for failing to submit utilisation certificates for salary funds disbursed to assistants and clerks working in middle and high schools.
What the Officials Failed to Do
The education department had sent funds to all districts for the payment of salaries to assistants and clerks employed under municipal corporations, nagar parishads, nagar panchayats, and district council appointment units. Departments were required to submit a complete account and utilisation certificate within the stipulated time after spending the funds. However, most districts failed to comply.
Director Issues 24-Hour Ultimatum
The Director of Secondary Education expressed strong displeasure over the non-compliance and has demanded responses from all DPOs within 24 hours, along with immediate submission of the pending utilisation certificates. The department has warned that if satisfactory responses are not received, departmental action will be initiated against the concerned officials.
Activity Picks Up in District Offices
Following the notices, district education offices have swung into action, with officials in several districts rushing to prepare the required utilisation certificates to avoid further action.
