BJP got Rs 614.53 Cr as contributions last year, Congress Rs 95.46 Cr

New Delhi, Nov 30: BJP received Rs 614.53 crore as contributions, more than six times the funds garnered by the opposition Congress during the iscal year 2021-22. Congress received funds to the tune of Rs 95.46 crore, according to Election Commission data.

While the CPI-M, which is in power in Kerala, received cash totaling Rs 10.05 crore, the Trinamool Congress, which is in power in West Bengal, received contributions totaling Rs 43 lakh.

Elections for the West Bengal assembly were conducted in March and April 2021. Assembly elections were held in Kerala in April 2021 as well.

The Election Commission received the most recent contribution reports from the four national parties and made the information public on Tuesday.

According to the Representation of the People Act, parties are required to submit an annual report detailing all contributions of more than 20,000 dollars from both individual donors and organizations. Election trusts, in addition to people and organizations, give money to parties. The BJP has received significant funding from electoral trusts, particularly the Prudent Electoral Trust.

The Aam Aadmi Party stated to the poll panel that it received 44.54 crore during the financial year 2021–2022, and it is currently in power in Delhi and Punjab as well as being recognised as a state party in three states.

In its most recent audit report, which was filed to the commission in October of this year, it listed expenses of 30.30 crore. It is a legitimate state party in Goa in addition to Delhi and Punjab.
