Ranchi, June 24: Students all over Jharkhand who want admissions in the state universities this year may visit the Chancellor’s Portal on https://jharkhanduniversities.nic.in to fill out admission forms for the new sessions of 2022.

Notably, as an initiative of former Jharkhand Governor Droupadi Murmu, the Jharkhand government had launched the portal for students to provide a common website for Undergraduate (UG) and Post Graduate (PG) enrollment in nine universities in the state.

When questioned in this regard, officials at the Ranchi University said, “The portal is still active and a big part of admissions in case of students from outside Ranchi. Students from all over the state visit it for admissions in different streams of colleges of over nine universities in the state.”

The officials further said, “Just because Droupadi Murmu isn’t the Governor anymore, doesn’t mean that the initiative taken by her will be stopped. The decision to centralize all universities in the state was a good start. It has benefited students over the years.”

Former governor and now a presidential candidate, Murmu had then said, “The Chancellor’s portal was created in order to centralise the enrollment process in the universities and colleges of the state. Here, the students can apply online for admission to any of these universities through a single website and can easily enrol in any of the colleges under these universities.”

The nine universities of Jharkhand include:

  • Ranchi University
  • Binod Bihari Mahto Koyalanchal University, Dhanbad
  • Kolhan University, Chaibasa
  • Nilamber Pitamber University, Palamu
  • Sido Kanhu Murmu University, Dumka
  • Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribagh
  • Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University, Ranchi
  • Jamshedpur Women’s University and
  • Jharkhand Raksha Shakti University, Ranchi

Along with this, officials had also started monitoring biometric attendance through the portal, after orders from the then secretary of Higher Education and Skill Development, Ajoy Kumar Singh. However, due to Covid, biometric attendance in universities was stopped, which is yet to be resumed in several universities.
