Ranchi, June 24: The Jharkhand High Court deferred hearing in a PIL demanding NIA investigation in June-10 violence in the Jharkhand capital, which left two dead and several injured till July 8 after the advocate general sought time to reply.

The development took place in the division bench comprising chief justice Dr Ravi Ranjan and Dr Sujir Narayan Prasad, where the PIL filed by Pankaj Yadav, was listed for hearing.

The PIL had been filed on June 17. The petitioner claimed in his plea that the miscreants used ferocious violence and planned to disrupt social order by yelling slogans and throwing stones. Many temples in the city were also targeted during the unrest, according to the petitioner.

The police were fired upon by the mob when they attempted to stop the miscreants who were committing violence in the shape of a mob. Following that, the police opened fire.

The application claims that violence was propagated in a well-planned manner, and that the NIA should investigate the entire situation.

The state government was asked by the court to explain how 10,000 individuals gathered in a public space. Aside from that, the court inquired about the number of people killed in the incident, as well as the number of rounds of bullets fired by the police.

The court also asked whether or not other measures like tear gas and water cannon were used by the police or not. The court also inquired whether the police employed other tactics before resorting to firing, such as tear gas and water cannon.
