Jamshedpur, May 24:  IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued an alert of Nor’wester activity in various isolated parts of Jharkhand today.

Weathermen said the Nor’wester activity would be triggered by a cyclonic circulation hovering over eastern Uttar Pradesh extending up to 1.5 km above mean sea level.

A trough was also running from Bihar to north Chhattisgarh across Jharkhand at 0.9 km above mean sea level.

A low-intensity storm swept across various parts of the state on Tuesday evening. The storm accompanied by lightning claimed three lives in various parts of Kolhan.

Lightning killed a middle-aged driver at Barinagar in Telco while a child and a youth were killed in two different incidents of wall collapse at Adityapur and Shastrinagar in Kadma.

Weather reports suggested that rainfall with thunderstorms occurred at isolated places over Jharkhand. The highest rainfall recorded was 68 mm at Rajmahal in Sahibganj.

The highest maximum temperature of  41.7°C was recorded at Jamshedpur.

Weathermen said thunderstorms/lightning accompanied by heavy rain is also likely to occur at isolated places over north-eastern parts of the state on Friday.
