New Delhi, April 28: In the midst of a geopolitical upheaval brought on by the conflict in Ukraine, Russian Defence Minister General Sergei Shoigu and Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh spoke on Friday on many elements of their bilateral strategic ties.
The meeting happened concurrently with a gathering of the defence ministers from the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) that India was hosting in its capital.
According to officials, Singh and Shoigu discussed several elements of their bilateral cooperation as well as current events in the region. Additionally, the defence minister met separately with Lieutenant General Kurbanov Bakhodir Nizamovich, his Uzbek counterpart.
“Delighted to meet the Defence Minister of Uzbekistan, Lt. Gen. Kurbanov Bakhodir Nizamovich on the sidelines of SCO Defence Ministers’ meeting in New Delhi,” Rajnath Singh said in a tweet.
