Ranchi, July 9: A youth killed his friend in broad daylight at Chakla, a village about 20km from the capital city under Ormanjhi police station area.
It was getting around 12 noon when the incident took place after the youth committed the crime using a sharp edged weapon, ‘Gupti’, and fled.
S.P.(rural) Naushad Alam confirmed the incident saying an attempt is on to arrest the miscreants. Asked about the background of the accused, he said he is a ‘dendrite glue addict’.
A locality resident said that the deceased was identified as Saurabh Raj Pandey.
“Pandey was attacked at his temple with a sharp edged weapon. As he sustained injury he screamed and fell on the ground. Hearing the scream, the people around reached there. By then the attacker fled the spot comfortably. People rushed the injured to Medanta Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The place where the incident took place is part of Ranchi—Ramgarh Road, a little away from Chakla More,” the resident said.
“After this incident came to the fore, the anger of the people came to a boil. Friends of the slain Saurabh Raj Pandey, locality residents and public representatives took to the streets demanding immediate arrest of the criminal. The police started scanning the CCTV footage installed around and have started searching for the culprits,” the resident added.
