Ranchi, Aug.27: Jharkhand chapter of Indian Dental Association challenged the Central Council of Indian Medicine Regulation-2020 by which a ‘vaidya’ has been allowed to do dental surgery which is presently being done exclusively by dentists.
The petition has been filed at the Supreme Court by Dr Vivek Kumar, a member of the executive committee of the Indian Dental Association and president of its Jharkhand unit.
Dr Vivek through his petition has challenged the regulation saying how a Vaidya be allowed to do dental surgery, which dentists do after five years of education and training in the field. He said that the rule is life-threatening for common people as Vaidyas do not undergo specialised training in this field.
