Deoghar, April 4: The Deoghar Municipal Corporation has finally taken the lead to conserve the water offered to Lord Shiva by devotees. The water offered is known as ‘Baba Nir’ and has a medicinal recognition for a long time among the priests and devotees.
The devotees take away a little amount of Baba Nir with themselves and take it as medicine during illnesses. To conserve the Baba Nir, the DMC has sketched a road map and has started to work on the project.
According to CEO DMC Shailendra Lal, a thousand gallons of water are offered in different temples including Kamna ling on normal days. This amount goes up to lakhs of gallons on special days. But till recently, the plan for the conservation of offered water was not taken seriously.
Now, under the new project, this Baba Nir will be filtered and purified through the RO system and it will be reused in several ways near Manshinghi.
For this, a plot has been already allotted. The Nir will be carried through a pipeline which is being fitted.
Shailendra Lal claims that the project will take shape within two months. But for the marketing of Baba Nir, cooperation of stakeholders like Panda Dharm Rakshani Sabha and Management of Mandir is required.
The senior vice president of Panda Dharma Rakshani Sabha has appreciated the project of conservation of Nir. He claims that the purified water will maintain the water level in the surrounding area of the Mandir. However, he declined to comment on the marketing issue of Baba Nir.
Some priests claim that the marketing of Baba Nir should be avoided because it has medicinal value only when it is given with the chanting of a mantra.
Meanwhile, the water offered on the Shivling will be conserved and saved from flowing into the drain.
