Deoghar, Oct 8: Even after the Deoghar administration issued instructions prohibiting the immersion of idols in the famous Shivganga pond, some Pooja committees disregarded the instructions and continued to violate the rules.
Shivganga is covered with the leftover materials and remains of the clay idols of Durga Puja. After the immersion of deities, the Deoghar Municipal Corporation has now started to collect garbage from the pond.
Taking a step ahead, an ultra-modern filtration plant, the same as that of the Golden Temple of Amritsar, has been set on the banks of Shivganga to filter the water. This has been done to provide the pilgrims with fresh and hygienic water to take a dip in the pond before ‘Jalaparan’ on Lord Shiva at Babadham temple.
However, the lack of a reliable source of power around the clock hinders the filtration process. A civic body employee revealed that there is no arrangement for power backup for the filtration plant.
