Dhanbad Bar Association election on June 8

Dhanbad, May 10: Biennial election of the Dhanbad Bar Association for 16 posts will be held on June 8.

The State Bar Council appointed election committee members, advocates  Devisharan Sinha and Arun Kumar Tiwary informed media persons that the poll would be held on June 8 from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm and the result would be declared on June 9.

Both the members today rolled out the poll programme of the Bar Association and said arrangements have been made for a peaceful poll.

“ The candidate would have to give an undertaking of following ‘Model Rules’ in the election at the time of filing nomination paper so that fair election could be conducted”, said election officers.

The voter’s list would be published on  May 13. The nomination paper would be filed for 16 posts from May 14 to May 18. A candidate can withdraw his nomination paper from May 19 to May 20. The scrutiny of nomination papers would be held from May 21 to May 23. The final list of candidates in the race for all 16 posts would be published on May 24.

The tenure of the outgoing committee under Amrendra Kumar Sahay ( president) was completed on March 26.  On the directive of the Jharkhand High Court on April 5, State Bar Council appointed three members committee to conduct a poll of the Dhanbad Bar Association.

The election committee officers said that this time nomination deposit charge for different posts has been increased.

While the presidential candidate would have to deposit Rs  15,000 and the general secretary Rs 10,000. Vice-president candidate ( Rs 7,500), treasurer ( Rs 7000), assistant treasurer (Rs 4,500), joint secretary Rs 4000) and executive committee members ( Rs 2500) will have to deposit the mentioned amounts.

Election committee officials said the voters’ list would be provided on payment of Rs 500.
