Dhanbad, Feb 27: Baghmara BJP MLA Dhulu Mahto today got bail in a two-year-old case of attacking villagers by firing bullets and throwing bombs along with outsourcing coal company owners.
The court of District and Session judge Akhilesh Kumar after hearing the argument of MLA’s lawyers SN Mukherjee and Radheysham Goswamy ordered granting bail to Dhulu Mahto in that case.
Earlier on February 15, MP, MLAs Special Court judicial magistrate Santosh Murmu had rejected the bail petition of Baghmara MLA.
Mahto has been in judicial custody since January 9, 2023, in a 10-year-old case of freeing a warrantee from police custody and assaulting senior police officers at Barora police station.
However, at present, he has been given special permission from the court to attend the Jharkhand assembly session from February 27 to March 14.
Dhulu Mahto has been facing around 43 cases in which he has been implicated and some are under trial. The layers said despite getting bail in this two-year-old case of attacking villagers with bombs and firing, he would remain in jail in connection with other cases.
Today’s case, in which he got bail, is two years old. The FIR was lodged by Jagan Chouhan against Dhulu Mahto and 16 others at the Loyabad police station on September 25, 2021.
As per the FIR, Dhulu got his henchmen who attacked over 300 villagers on September 24 with bombs and bullets who had gone to demand daily wage work from outsourcing Ramavatar Coal Company under the agreement.
