Dhanbad Dec 20: A POCSO court in Dhanbad today awarded 10 years of rigorous imprisonment to a minor’s rape accused and slapped a fine of Rs 5000 on him in a two-year-old case.
The Special POCSO court of Prabhakar Singh sentenced the named accused Sanjay Hadi, the neighbour of the victim 10 years jail term and slapped a fine of Rs 5,000. The court had held Hadi guilty in the case on Monday and announced the quantum of punishment today.
As per the FIR lodged by the father of the victim, the minor girl was watching TV alone in her house at around 9.30 am on June 24, 2020. The accused having found her alone entered the house by scaling the wall and raped her. In the meantime, her father arrived and the accused tried to escape but was caught by the neighbours.
The Saraidhela police lodged the FIR on the statement of the victim girl on June 25, 2020, and filed a charge sheet against Sanjay Hadi on September 8, 2020. The court started the trial in the case on November 30, 2021. The APP said that a total of five witnesses were cross-examined in the case.
