Dhanbad:  POCSO court sends youth to jail for 10 years for raping minor

Dhanbad, May 20: The Dhanbad POCSO court today awarded 10 years jail sentence to a youth identified as Arun Hansda in four years old case of sexual exploitation of a minor girl in the name of  marriage.
The special judge of POCSO court Prabhakar Singh while pronouncing the judgement in the case also slapped Rs 5000 penalty on the accused.
The Additional Public Prosecutor (APP) said that the court had held Arun Hansda guilty in the case on Friday and  reserved the announcement over quantum of punishment for Saturday (today).
The case is  four years old filed in the Barwadda police station of the district by the victim girl on August 16, 2019.
As per the FIR, Arun Hansda, resident of Kharni under Govindpur police station sexually exploited the girl  after assuring to marry with her. But later on, he refused to do so when the girl put pressure for the same.
The police after investigation filed a charge-sheet against the accused on October 11, 2019. The charge was fixed in the court on November 20, 2019.
The APP said total five witnesses were cross examined during the trial in the court.
