Dhanbad, Sept 6: After the encounter of a dacoit in Muthoot Finance office, police have now arrested his two accomplices who stormed into the office in posh Bank More market area under Bank More police station on Tuesday morning.
The search operation for other dacoits who managed to escape during encounter is still on in nearby buildings and shops.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Sanjiv Kumar also reached the spot and began monitoring the operation against armed dacoit. SSP said he would share the details with the media persons after completion of operation.
However, the police officers engaged in the operation on the spot said that at around 10:30 am five armed dacoit entered Matkuriya road near Gurudwara based the Muthoot Finance office for robbery.
Some of them entered office and a few of them began to guard the road. After getting the information, Bank More police under officer in-charge PK Singh reached the spot in no time. Police officers said having seen police, the dacoits began firing.
Moreover, the action is seen as a major achievement for Dhanbad police as three days ago, armed criminals had robbed jewellery worth over Rs 1 crore from Gunjan jewellery showroon under Dhansar police station.
After 1991, this is the first time in 31 years that Dhanbad police have gunned down bank robbers on the spot while robbing a financial institution. On January 3, 1991 the superintendent of police late Randhir Prasad Verma had alone gunned down three Punjab terroriosts while robbing Bank of India near Court More. He was also killed during the operation.
