Dhanbad, Sept 5: Social organisation ’Action Force’ today launched a signature campaign at Randhir Verma Chowk for the construction of an airport ,All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) and central university in Dhanbad, the coal capital of the country.

Thousands of people including Dhanbad Bar Association president Amrendra Sahay, secretary Jitendra Kumar, former chairman of Bokaro Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) Bijay Jha, senior Congress leader Vaibhav Jha, teachers of different colleges, media persons joined the campaign and signed for the demand.

Bar Association president advocate Amrendra Sahay while calling upon the people for the support said that airport, AIIMS and central university are need of the hour for Dhanbad as coal capital is national headquarters of Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS), Coal Mines Provident Fund Organization (CMPFO), Central Institute of Mining Fuel Research (CIMFR), IIT Indian School of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad Divisional Railway, Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH), Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) office.

“Visiting professors of IIT ISM, Inspectors of National Medical Commission (NMC) who frequently have to visit Dhanbad face sheer hardship. If airport is made, coal capital would be linked directly with other cities of country other than rail,” he said.

Former BIADA chairman vijay Jha said it is unfortunate that Dhanbad contributes highest revenue from most of the cities despite it the city is deprived off from facilities such as an airport, AIIMS and Central university.

MK Azad convener of ‘Action Force’ on the occasion said that the organization has launched signature campaign from September 5 and would continue till demand of airport, AIIMS and central university is not implemented.

“Demand has got overwhelming supports from lawyers and social activists. If needed Action Force would hold dharna in Delhi Jantar Mantar for fulfilment of coal belts long pending requirement,” said MK Azad.
