Jamshedpur, Aug 16: An awkward situation was witnessed as a woman forcibly unfurled the Tricolor at a government-aided BEd College in Chandil when the president of the college was about unfurl the flag during the Independence Day celebration on Tuesday.
The matter assumes significance as the president of the college, Asu Kisku BEd College, Gurucharan Kisku is none other than the maternal uncle of Chief Minister, Hemant Soren.
The embarrassing situation was witnessed in the presence of a large number of people, including students as well as the college faculties at Lupungdih in Chandil block where the college is located.
Interestingly, the woman Namita Mahto who finally unfurled the Tricolor after humiliating Gurucharan Kisku is the secretary of the college.
According to a functionary of the college, an unpleasant situation during a function as important as the Independence Day celebration was due to the brewing resentment among the top management committee people for supremacy.
After unfurling the National flag, the college secretary declared that she had to resort to such a step because she wanted to let the people know what was going on in the BEd College.
Namita Mahto pointed out crores of rupees are being funded to the college, but there is no sign of any development as such. She also revealed that all the people in the college management committee are outsiders and no one has got a berth in the management committee from Lupungdih itself.
Gurucharan Kisku, who was the chief guest on the occasion of flag-hoisting said “I was busy planting paddy at the field in the morning when I was invited for attending the Independence Day function as the chief guest and to unfurl the Tricolour. I turned up at the function venue on time and was about to unfurl the flag when the college secretary prevented me from doing so. And suddenly she unfurled the flag instead.”
The students of the BEd college were stunned to see the ugly scene between the top management committee people as they apprehend a gloomy future by pursuing a career course there.
