Dumka, Sept 5: The chairperson of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) Priyank Kanoongo criticised the Hemant Soren government for not supporting the team he led to visit Dumka last Tuesday to take stock of the dual murder of minor girls taken place in the recent past.
Expressing surprise over the absence of the parents of one of the victim girls from their home in Raneshwar police station area on Tuesday, Kanoongo said they were allegedly taken to some place on a vehicle prior to the arrival of the team.
“This is despite the fact that the state government was suitably communicated about the visit of the NCPCR team pertaining to the murder of two minor girls,” Kanoongo told to reporters.
Before leaving for New Delhi, he added that the district collector (DC) had even given his consent for making suitable arrangements for the visit of the NCPCR team intending to interact with the victims’ families besides administrative stakeholders.
Meanwhile, the team could interact with the family of the sixteen year old school girl who was set ablaze by a stalker for not adhering to his advancements.
Notably, the team during his hour long stay here also took stock of both the incidents from the deputy commissioner Ravishankar Shukla and SP Ambar Lakda besides the doctors having conducted the autopsies of both the victims.
Meanwhile, sources from the district administration claimed that the parents of the tribal victim were taken to join the protest organised by different organisations by few persons even before the NCPCR team reached their home.
“We placed the option to the NCPCR team to visit the Phulo Jhano Chowk in district headquarter where the parents of the victim girl were available while joining the demonstration,” a senior administrative official said adding the team did not have as much time for catching the Delhi bound flight from Deoghar.
The official further said that the NCPCR team could however interact with other family members of the minor victim.
