Firecracker godown explosion kills seven in Tamil Nadu’s Ariyalur

Ariyalur, Oct 9: A firecracker godown explosion here on Monday left seven individuals dead and numerous others injured, police stated.

The explosion in Vetriyur Viragalur, in the Ariyalur district, was followed by a large fire that started at around 10.20 pm, they added.

After learning of the occurrence, Ariyalur District Collector J Anne Mary Swarna and District Superintendent of Police (SP) K Feroze Khan Abdullah rushed to the scene.

According to the police, the injured people were taken urgently to a nearby government hospital where they are currently receiving treatment.

A probe of the situation is being conducted.
