Hazaribag, July 29: The administration here is on a high alert after electrocution of four persons during a Muharram procession in Bokaro.

Deputy Commissioner Nancy Sahay passed several guidelines to the electricity department regarding precautions so as to avoid any such incident.

Sahay said that unfortunate information has been received that many people have tragically died and many have been injured due to coming in contact with an electric wire during the procession of Muharram in Bokaro district. This is quite an unfortunate incident, she added. In Hazaribagh district also, on the occasion of Muharram, large scale processions are being taken out in rural and urban areas. In view of the Bokaro incident, Sahay has given instructions to take all precautionary measures and take the following precautions as necessary.

Her instructions included procession of Muharram should be taken out from the fixed route only and the route should not be changed. Assess the electric wire falling in the route of the procession and be sure that the Tajiya does not come in contact with the wire.

The deputed magistrate should ensure that the power supply in that route has been stopped by the electricity department.

“If any untoward incident happens in the jurisdiction, inform it to the preferred officer/control room without delay,” she added.

According to Sahay, the deputation magistrate will maintain an atmosphere of harmony. “Every precaution should be taken in view of the procession in rural/urban areas. All important steps should be taken for dissemination of information, collection of information, coordination with local people and departments,” she added.

The Block Development Officers and subdivisional officers will ensure that the security precautions/their requirements reach all the akhadas through proper channels. The Electricity department should make sure to switch off the power supply at the time of procession.

She directed to inform any kind of incident on control room Number – 06546-264159, police administration 8002529349 and to additional collector – 9431109827.
