Hazaribag, Dec 9: Hazaribag municipal corporation commissioner Prerna Dikshit has issued an order making registration of all banquet halls, student lodges, inns and marriage halls under the jurisdiction of the corporation mandatory. She said that in violation of this order, all such buildings will be declared illegal.

The corporation record states that a total of 31,028 holding numbers were issued in 36 wards across the town. Most of these buildings are lodges, banquet halls, marriage halls and inns.

The officials said many buildings are commercially used by their owners without taking approval from the urban body. They said exercise has been started to identify such buildings and to make them pay the annual fee.

“So far, we are suffering revenue loss in lack of tough stand on such owners not paying fees for their commercial buildings,” they added.

Sources said lodges having a ten-bed capacity will have to pay Rs 1,250 as an annual fee, for 11 to 20 beds, it is Rs 1875, Rs 2500 for 21 to 50 beds and for more than 50, the annual fee is Rs 3,125.

For marriage halls and banquet halls under 5000 sq feet area, the fee is Rs.12,500. For more than 5000 sq feet, the fee is Rs.18,750.
