Notably, outgoing president Prof Kaushlendra Kumar (head of the department of chemistry), both vice-presidents Prof Humau Asaraf (Urdu department), Prof Manoj Kumar (department of zoology) and joint secretary Prof Avinash Kumar (department of botany) of the previous committee did not contest the election this time.
“I had been the office-bearer of the association for the last 25 years. I feel this is a time of change and new men should be given the opportunity to work,” said Prof Kaushelendra Kumar outgoing president.
There is no limit to holding a post in the VBU PG teachers association but Prof Kumar relinquished it only after one term of two years. “ Association runs smoothly only through collective efforts. Election creates bitterness. So I appealed to all members to select office bearers unanimously and it was done,” said Kaushelendra Kumar, who has been active in the association since 1997.
The outgoing president said ensuring the promotion of 1996 batch assistant professors into associate professors in 2008 was his major achievement. He was the first party in the case against the Jharkhand government on the matter.
