Jamshedpur, Sept 29: Passengers of Howrah-Ahmedabad Special train from today will get to travel on the new state-of-the-art German-designed LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) coaches, currently in use in high-profile trains such as Rajdhani and Duronto.
The train goes via Tatanagar and several other stations under South Eastern Railway’s Chakradharpur and Kharagpur divisions.
A spokesperson of South Eastern Railway said that the sophisticated LHB coaches were introduced replacing the existing conventional coaches with a view to provide secured and comfortable journey to the travelling passengers.
The train with LHB coaches will leave on its maiden journey from Howrah on Wednesday night.
With the introduction of the LHB rake, the special train will have the revised composition of, two AC-2 tier-coaches, two AC-3 tier- coaches, twelve sleeper class coaches and three general second class coaches.
Made of stainless steel on the outside and aluminium on the inside, the LHB coaches are lighter than conventional ones and each one has an advanced braking system for increased safety at higher speed.
The new coaches are “anti-telescopic”, which means that they do not flip even if the train derails or has a collision.
The new coaches have improved the suspension system that will ensure more riding comfort.
The air-conditioning is of higher capacity and is controlled by a microprocessor for optimum temperature control in both summer and winter.
