Jamshedpur, Sept 29: As many as four fresh Covid-19 positive cases were reported from Jamshedpur on Tuesday after a gap of two months, while the virus claimed one life.
A 72-year-old former Resident Medical Officer ( RMO) of Tata Main Hospital suffering from Covid-19 died yesterday.
This was the first casualty to be reported after July 30. After testing positive for Covid-19 on September 25, he was admitted to TMH.
Officials of the district civil surgeon office where the Covid test reports arrived late on Tuesday evening confirmed four fresh cases.
Of the four new cases, two were from Mango and one each from Kadma and Sakchi.
One patient also recovered from Covid -19 in East Singhbhum district. The fresh four cases took the Covid tally in East Singhbhum district to 51,885.
Notably, the steel city of Jamshedpur witnessed a sharp decline in Covid cases.
The vaccination got pace with the district administration carrying out massive drives both in rural and urban areas.
The recovery rate in Jamshedpur improved to 97.95% while the mortality rate is at 2.04 %.
With the detection of four fresh cases, the health department has been put on alert.
