Ranchi: Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi has alleged that the illegal lottery business in Jharkhand is flourishing under the protection of ruling party leaders. In a social media post, he specifically highlighted the rapid spread of this unlawful trade in Maheshpur police station area of Pakur district.

Impact on Families and Youth

Marandi said the racket is destroying thousands of poor families who are losing their life savings, while many young people are being lured into wrong paths. Reports suggest that the main operators of this illegal lottery are Birbal Ansari and Sheikh Ansari.

Political and Cross-Border Links

According to Marandi, these operators are being shielded by ruling party leaders and certain corrupt administrative officials. He also claimed that the network extends across the border into Bangladesh. Urging immediate action, he called on the Pakur Deputy Commissioner and the district police administration to crack down on these unlawful activities and ensure strict punishment for the culprits.
