Jamshedpur, Feb 2: IMD’s Ranchi Met Centre issued a special bulletin this evening on an alert of heavy rain and hail in isolated pockets of north-eastern Jharkhand on Friday, February 4.

The north-eastern parts cover districts like Sahebganj, Godda, Jamtara, Pakur, Dhanbad, Dumka, Giridih and Deoghar.

A weather analyst at Ranchi Met Centre said the unseasonal rain would be due to the impact of a western disturbance passing through mid-tropospheric levels with its axis at 5.8 Km.

Under its influence, an induced cyclonic circulation is likely to form over western Rajasthan by tonight.

The forecast for February 3 says generally cloudy sky with light to moderate rain likely at many places over the state towards late in the night.

Generally, a cloudy sky would prevail on Thursday, February 4 with light to moderate rain at most places over Jharkhand.

The forecast for February 4 indicated heavy rain in isolated pockets of north-eastern Jharkhand and the possibility of hail in some parts of northern and central Jharkhand.

Generally cloudy sky with light rain at isolated places over the northeast and adjoining central Jharkhand is expected on Saturday, February 5.

Dry weather is most likely to prevail from Sunday, February 6 with fog or mist in the morning and a clear sky later.

Several Jharkhand districts experienced such unseasonal rains twice in the month of January due to the impact of Western disturbances passing through northern parts of the country.

Meanwhile, Met data suggested that dry weather prevailed over Jharkhand during the past 24 hours.

The highest maximum temperature of 29.8°C was recorded at Chaibasa while the lowest minimum temperature of 8.2°C was recorded at Godda.

The Met office predicted a rise in minimum readings by 2-3 °C during the next two days,  thereafter falling by 3-5°C during the subsequent three days across the state.
