New Delhi, April 4: Vinay Mohan Kwatra, India’s ambassador to Nepal, has been named as the country’s new Foreign Secretary.
On Monday, the Cabinet Appointment Committee confirmed the appointment of Ambassador Kwatra (IFS: 1998) as India’s Foreign Secretary. He will follow Harsha Vardan Shringla, the current Foreign Secretary, who is retiring on April 30.

Kwatra is serving as Ambassador of India to Nepal from March 2020. He was the Ambassador of India to France from August 2017 to February 2020, before to his diplomatic post in Nepal. Kwatra also worked as a Joint Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office of India from October 2015 until August 2017.
