Jamshedpur, Feb 28: Nurturing budding athletes and making them climb higher the Tata Steel Sport Climbing Championship 2022 concluded here on Sunday evening.

The winners for the Lead and Bouldering Combined were selected by multiplying the scores earned in the individual events. ‘Speed’, a type of race, gave a clear winner.

The candidates from Tata Steel Adventure Foundation shone brightly in this category.

The national record of 6.86sec in the speed category was attained by one of our participants.

Jogga Purty, one of TSAF’s students, won in all three categories. Aman Verma, another star player, won the Speed Event with the national record.

The chief guest for the closing ceremony was Chanakya Chaudhary, vice- president-Corporate Services Tata Steel.

The winners were given a certificate, a medal, prize money and a gift hamper by Big Basket.

Every candidate was given a certificate of participation.

This five-day event has been India’s biggest climbing championship with the participation of more than 280 climbers from over 12 Indian states.

A wonderful team of about 50 officials including belayers, route setters and judges have worked hard to make the event a grand success.

The whole event was even streamed live on YouTube. This was a good opportunity for the athletes after a break of over two years.

Ace mountaineer Bachendri Pal was very emotional to return to her office of 35 years after two long years. She felt like she was at home.
