Jamshedpur, Feb 4: Two incidents involving running vehicles rocked the Kadma locality in the steel city and Gamharia in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district on Saturday morning.
In Gamharia, a 21-year-old youth was found lying dead in a 10-ft deep ditch along the Raibasa-Rajgaon road under Gamharia thana area about 16 km away from here this morning. Beside the body was lying the victim’s motorcycle, suggesting that the deceased later identified as Vishwa Nayak might have died after accidentally skidding into the ditch in the night.
The bereaved family members, however, claimed it might be a case of murder.
“Vishwa had gone to meet his girlfriend at Rajgaon last night but did return home. It is probable that the members of the girl’s family might have murdered him and dropped the body along with his bike in the ditch,” one of the family members claimed before the newsmen.
The police have started an investigation into the case has sent the body to Seraikela Sadar Hospital for postmortem.
“We are probing into the circumstances that led the youth to die mysteriously,” said OC, Gamharia thana, Rajiv Ranjan Singh while talking to lagatar24.com.
In the other incident, a van caught fire in running condition at Bhatia Bustee under the Kadma thana area this morning.
According to police, two persons were aboard the van – a Maruti van but while negotiating Kadma-Bhatia Bustee road smoke started billowing out of the front side of the van, causing the two to come out of the vehicle immediately. Soon afterwards the van was aflame and gutted completely.
