Ranchi, March 7: CPI(ML) legislator Binod Singh today raised the issue of police action on those land owners at Tandwa in Chatra district who were agitating for the last 14 months for their demand of compensation against their land acquired for National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC).
Singh informed the house regarding the incident a few minutes after the session began after lunch and debate on the budget of the agriculture department started. Singh gave the information sharing his concern over the incident.
Meanwhile, sources at Chatra informed that police resorted to lathi charge and fired tear gas shells to disperse the agitating mob of land owners. Several sustained injuries in the incident. After the incident movement on Tandwa-Ranchi Main Road got disrupted.
A local resident said agitators set several vehicles of NTPC and contactors working for the NTPC on fire. Apart from landowners, a section of administrative officials also sustained injury in the incident.
