Ranchi: Jharkhand is set to witness changeable weather over the next five days, with the meteorological department forecasting light to moderate rain in several parts of the state and issuing a warning for thunder, lightning and strong winds in some areas on September 16.
Rain Likely in Ranchi and Other Districts Today
The sky is expected to remain overcast across most parts of the state today, September 15, with light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder possible in some places. Ranchi is also likely to see cloudy skies with one or two spells of light to moderate rain. The capital’s maximum temperature is expected to hover around 31 degrees Celsius, with the minimum around 23 degrees. According to the weather department, a trough line extends from the east-central Arabian Sea through Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and northern Chhattisgarh up to Jharkhand, while a cyclonic circulation is also active over the upper air near the north-western Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal Odisha and West Bengal. These weather systems are together driving the rainfall activity across the state.
Wet Spell to Continue Until September 20
Light to moderate rain along with thunder is expected in several parts of the state on September 16 and 17 as well. Ranchi’s maximum temperature is likely to be around 30 degrees on September 16 and 29 degrees on September 17, with minimum temperatures of 23 and 22 degrees respectively. The rainy spell is expected to persist between September 18 and 20, with scattered rain likely across the state on September 18 and thundershowers expected in Ranchi too. Light to moderate rain may occur in parts of the state on September 19 and 20, with Ranchi likely to see one or two spells of light to moderate rain. The weather department has indicated that no major change in maximum temperatures is expected across Jharkhand over the next five days.
Special Caution Advised for September 16
The meteorological department has warned of thunder, lightning and strong winds in parts of the state on September 16, with wind speeds likely to reach 30 to 40 kilometres per hour. People have been advised to avoid open spaces and stay in safe locations during this period.
