PINAKI  MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, Nov 7: Chief minister Hemant Soren on Monday laid the foundation stone for projects worth around Rs 2,342 crore as a part of ‘Aapki Yojna Aapki Sarkar Apke Dwar’ at a function organised at the Gopal Maidan here in Bistupur.

The projects included the construction of a multi-crore flyover over river Subernarekha connecting Sakchi with Mango, the new 500-bed building at the Sakchi- based government run MGM Medical College and Hospital, the new building of Jugsalai Municipal Corporation and a new park near Tata Pigments. The chief minister also laid the foundation stone for 50 new roads.

At the function which was delayed due to the chief minister’s late arrival this afternoon at the Sonari airport, Soren handed over cheques and certificates to the beneficiaries of various welfare projects of the state government,  who had come from various rural blocks.

The chief minister laid the foundation stone of the urban projects online.

Later, in his address, the chief minister spoke at length about the various welfare projects initiated by the state government.

He also made quite a few comments on the current political scenario of the state.

Commenting on today’s Supreme Court’s development in which the apex court gave a clean chit to the chief minister against two  PILs filed against him Soren said the protest launched today by BJP against him does not have any relevance.

The PILs were related to allegations of money laundering through Shell companies and the chief minister availing stone mining lease in his name.

Making a poignant attack he said instead of positive criticism, the Opposition is trying to create differences among the MLAs and trying to break them.

The East Singhbhum district administration made elaborate security arrangements at the Gopal Maidan and in the city in view of the chief minister’s visit.

The chief minister was accompanied by the health minister and local MLA Banna Gupta and several other cabinet ministers including Champai Soren.

As many as eleven magistrates and armed police were deployed for ensuring foolproof security for the chief minister.
