Ranchi, July 4: Chief Minister Hemant Soren approved a proposal of granting maternity leave to women workers appointed on contract basis.
The approval has paved the path for 180 days maternity leave facility for the contractually appointed women. Earlier, there was no provision to give the benefit of maternity leave to women employees appointed on contract.
The rule will be applicable for such women workers who have worked on contract for 80 days in the last 12 months. This leave will be admissible on delivery of up to two children. The contractual amount for maternity leave will be equal to the last contracted amount received before proceeding on leave.
