RAJ KUMAR
Ranchi, Nov 8: Two days before the special session of the State Assembly to introduce and pass a bill providing Khatiyan as valid documents to identify local, Congress state president Rajesh Thakur today talked in its favour saying any speculation taking its negative impact in the traditional brotherhood of the state is a farce.
Thakur shared his view during the fourth episode of the weekly show “Newsmaker in Newsroom,” produced by the Hindi daily “Shubham Sandesh” and the YouTube channel “Live Lagatar,”.
He said that all negative propaganda against making Khatiyan, a valid document for the identification of locals, is being done by those who stay in town and want to take advantage of the ignorance of the people.
According to Thakur, identification of locals based on Khatiyan is a must for federal democracy and for the betterment of those associated with the soil of the state at the time of formulation of policy proper attention should be given to those associated with employment opportunities also.
Thakur on the occasion answered many queries related to his party and expressed his commitment to play his proactive role to make congress stronger.
Yesterday during a demonstration, Congress executive president Bandhu Tirkey and state minister Mithilesh Thakur had talked about beating BJP workers. Asked about his comment on the development, Thakur explained the circumstances under which it was said and made it clear that he personally does not support such words.
Thakur said that such a statement is the reflection of anger against the conspiracy to topple the democratically elected government in Jharkhand and the governor talking about the explosion of a bomb and said one should not take it otherwise as his party believes in Gandhian ideology and not a supporter of Nathuram Godse, who had shot dead Gandhi.
Asked about the compulsion under which he had to accompany his party MLA Anup Singh to register a zero FIR against his three-party MLAs, Thakur said the step was taken after cash was recovered from the possession of three MLAs of his party. He, however, instead of elaborating on the matter directed the question to Singh.
When asked whether any legislator of his party is still in contact with BJP, he expressed his inability to tell, saying it is not possible to tell whether his party MLAs are in touch with BJP or not but BJP is in making all attempts to contact his party legislators with an intention to topple the government as it earlier did in many other states.
Asked whether he is still in touch with former Jharkhand in-charge of Congress, RPN Singh, who joined BJP, Thakur said when Singh had left the party he had instructed him not to call and he is not in touch with him.
