Ranchi, May 3: The MP-MLA court here rejected Rahul Gandhi’s petition for exemption from personal appearance in the ‘Modi surname’ case.
A city resident Pradeep Modi had filed the defamation petition after Gandhi questioned during a meeting why all people with the Modi surname are thieves.
Before the court rejected the petition, additional public prosecutor Pushpa Singh argued on behalf of the state government while Pradeep Chandra argued on behalf of Gandhi.
