Ranchi, Feb.22: Governor Ramesh Bais inaugurating the seven-day ‘Vigyan Sarvatra Pujyate’ programme organized by Birla Institute of Technology in Mesra counted benefits of sciences and remembered the slogan given by former prime minister ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Vigyan.’
The Governor was participating in the programme through video conferencing and thus he missed no opportunity to give credit for this to science.
“Today I am addressing all of you by connecting through video conferencing. This is the gift of science and technology. The man who sent messages from harkaras and pigeons has come out of the world of letters and postcards and has reached mobile through telephone, e-mail,” he said during his address.
He said that the credit for bringing a revolution in human life goes to science.
“Today, the effect of science can be seen everywhere, every moment. Science has provided so many facilities to human life at every step. It has become Kamdhenu for man. Science has affected the three, earth, sky and water. There is hardly any corner of the earth, where science has not stepped. Today there is no limit to the progress and progress of man because of science,” he said.
“First of all, science is the main reason for the revolution in agriculture. Because of science, there are tractors, tube wells, insecticides, weed killers and medicines. Apart from this, the invention of advanced seeds, fertilizers and instruments has been possible only due to science. Science has given new life to man in the field of medical science. Now not only the treatments of diseases, the parts of the body are also being changed,” he said.
“Human welfare works like blood donation and eye donation and with the cooperation of science, man is getting a new life. Our scientists are going to the moon, looking for life on Mars. Our scientists are continuously making success in launching satellites. Our country is a nuclear power country. Seeing this importance of science, former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Revered Atal ji gave the slogan ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Vigyan’,” he added.
Praising Jharkhand for striving towards continuous progress in the field of science and technology, he said that the presence of immense coal reserves in the state makes it an ideal state for many industrial activities.
“A large number of thermal and steel power plants have been set up in Bokaro, Jamshedpur and many other places. Technical institutes like BIT, Mesra, BIT, Sindri, NIFT and ISM, Dhanbad have made significant contributions in the field of innovation and imagination. I am proud to say that the state of Jharkhand has produced many eminent personalities, scientists and researchers, who have inspired the coming generations to put their best efforts. As we know that “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav ” nationwide celebration is going on under different themes. In this event, “Science Week” has been organized by the Science and Technology Organizations of Government of India under the proud theme of “Vigyan Sarvatra Pujyate”, which aims to showcase the technical skills, which have helped in finding solutions to various problems. Our aim is to inspire young minds and increase community participation in building a progressive nation,” governor said.

Apart from this, we are identifying and adopting the repository of the traditional knowledge system, which has rehabilitated India under the concept of ‘Indigenous Traditional Inventions and Innovations’. Modern India is on the path of science and technology mission. As we all know that the Corona pandemic posed unprecedented challenges to us and our scientists met these challenges by inventing the vaccine in an effective and safe manner,” the governor said.
