Ramgarh, May 16: Hazaribagh Sadar MLA Manish Jaiswal and BJP leader Pradeep Prasad on Monday organized a press conference at Jhinjhariapul in Hazaribagh city.

They warned of a phased agitation against the increase in holding tax by calling it anti-people. The duo said it is a ‘Tughlaqi decree’ of the Jharkhand government. They demanded the government reconsider the increase in the matter.

Hazaribagh Sadar MLA Manish Jaiswal said that for the last two years, Jharkhand along with the country and the whole world is battling the Corona pandemic. The virus made it difficult for people to even run their households.

“In such a dire situation, where the central government is trying to provide relief to the public at every level, the coalition government of Jharkhand has implemented holding tax by increasing the amount and that too in the manner in which the tax hike is regulated circle rate. It discriminates against each other,” said MLA Manish Jaiswal.

“This is the first time that people residing in different areas in the same municipal corporation will pay different tax amounts. There is confusion among the public regarding the holding tax hike,” he added.

The MLA further said that soon all of them will protest against the anti-people policies of the government by coming out on the road under the banner of the BJP. They will work to shake the foundation of the government which is working to sprinkle salt in the people’s throats.

“The government should immediately withdraw the tax increase which has been done wrongly,” he said.

MLA Manish Jaiswal said that the Agriculture Marketing Tax which was abolished in the Raghubar government and the situation of exploitation more than the collection, Inspector Raj was at its peak. But the present government has now revived it again. It has also been decided to change its wrong structure.

The MLA said that before the phased agitation, the people of the municipal area would be first made aware of the holding tax raised by the government and after that when the public becomes aware, they will discuss and give full support to this movement.

Senior BJP leader Harish Srivastava, Manoj Srivastava, Rajesh Yadav, Kauleshwar Rajak, Sadar MLA Manish Jaiswal’s media representative Ranjan Choudhary and others were present on the occasion.
