Ranchi, April 6:  The Jharkhand High Court today asked the Jharkhand State Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) to give justification for making it compulsory for the general category candidates to pass matriculation and intermediate examinations from Jharkhand to apply for a job in Jharkhand.

Apart from this, the court also asked to give logic behind removing Hindi and English as a subject to judge the merit of a candidate appearing in a competitive examination.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan and Justice S.N.Prasad made this observation, while hearing a petition filed demanding quashing of the JSSC examination notice pointing out loopholes in its rules.

Ramesh Hansda had filed the petition.

During the hearing, senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi and Advocate General Rajiv Ranjan represented the state while senior advocates Ajit Kumar, Aparajita Bhardwaj and Kushal Kumar appeared on behalf of the petitioner.

Senior advocate Rahatgi sought time to give proper justification and the court deferred the hearing in the matter for two weeks giving the state an opportunity to file its reply.
