Dhanbad, April 6: The Jharkhand High Court while rejecting the Dhanbad Bar Association’ annual general meeting (AGM) conducted by the State Bar Council on April 1, today directed to hold fresh AGM on April 17. The court also ordered to conduct audit before the AGM.
The election of Dhanbad bar Association had been snowballed into legal controversy after the State Bar Council convened the AGM on April 1 and sent two members as observers for holding the same.
At the same time, the outgoing committee officials who had called the AGM on April 11, moved the High Court against the State bar Council action of holding AGM on April 1. Bar Association’s general secretary Jitendra Kumar filed a writ in the High Court.
Today, the High Court brushed aside the action of the State Council and fixed April 17 for holding the AGM. The tenure of the present committee had ended on March 26 and the Council convened AGM on April 1 before conducting audit of the accounts.
The High Court had also sought three names each from the Council and the Bar Association for conducting the poll.
The Council had sent names of Brajendra Prasad Singh, PC Mahto and Sujit Mallick while the Bar Association had suggested names of Samiran Pal, Arun Singh and Babloo Pandey.
