Ranchi, Feb 3: The court of Justice S. Chandrashekhar of Jharkhand High Court on Friday conducted part hearing of the cash for MLA case in a criminal writ petition filed by Jharkhand Congress MLA Rajesh Kacchap.
The court directed the Jharkhand government and another Congress MLA Jaimangal Singh to file a counter affidavit in this matter and deferred the hearing to February 24. The court also directed the state to provide a copy of zero FIR against them.
Rajesh Kacchap had challenged his criminal proceedings as well as two of his colleagues namely MLAs Irfan Ansari and Naman Bixal Kongari on the basis of a zero FIR filed by party’s Bermo MLA Jaimangal Singh. In September last year he filed the petition after they were released on bail. He challenged their investigation by the Bengal police on the basis of a zero FIR.
On July 30 last year these MLAs were detained by the Bengal police along with cash to the tune of Rs 48 lakh. A day after the incident, Jaimangal Singh lodged a zero FIR at the Argora police station. He alleged that these MLAs were part of a conspiracy of the BJP to topple the Hemant Soren led JMM-Congress-RJD government in Jharkhand. He further stated that these MLAs had offered him money and ministerial post if he helps them in the secret mission to topple the present government and form the BJP government. Jaimangal Singh also named BJP’s Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Notably, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) also took up this case for investigation and has summoned these MLAs on February 6, 7 and 8th. The ED has already questioned Jaimangal Singh.
