Ranchi, Sept.15: Jharkhand High Court today stayed the warrant of arrest against advocate and secretary of Vivekanand Vidya Mandir, Abhay Mishra.
Justice A.K.Dwivedi passed the order after hearing the submission of the petitioner’s advocate Ajit Kumar. The warrant was issued on August 24 from a city court on the prayer of officials of Jagannathpur police station investigating an FIR registered against Mishra and others in 2017.
Mishra, while requesting for a stay on the warrant, had also demanded a CBI probe into the matter for which the FIR was filed against him in 2017 and police prayed for his arrest warrant now despite his co-operation with the investigating agency.
Thus the court while staying the warrant asked the state to file a petition in the matter fixing the date of the next hearing on October 4.
The FIR was lodged alleging Mishra and some other members of the school management committee, including Kashinath Mukherjee, Malay Kumar Nandi, Aditya Kumar Banerjee and Gautam Das of doing irregularities in the construction of school buildings, operating school accounts from private banks instead of nationalised banks. Other allegations included not allowing the elected committee of the school to work and unauthorised withdrawal of money from the school account.
Mishra confirmed the development saying that it has come as a big relief for him.
“For last five years, I must have appeared 100 times before the police to reply to their queries during the investigation of the FIR against me. Apart from this, I am also appearing before the high court. But ignoring all this, the police procured an arrest warrant against me, which is commonly procured against those not cooperating in the investigation and not appearing before the investigating agency. The court order has come as a big relief for me,” Mishra said.
