Daltonganj, March 15: Anish Kumar Verma, a 33-year-old jawan of IRB -3 was found hanging at the JAP 8 Bn Lesliganj. He was undergoing training at the JAP 8 Battalion in Lesliganj.
The deceased hailed from Jamshedpur. He was a 2013 batch jawan. Verma came in training in the Lesliganj Battalion of JAP 8 on January 23, 2023. He was married and had a 3-year-old girl.
The fellow jawans found him hanging around 6:15 this morning in his barrack at the JAP 8 Bn Lesliganj. He was rushed to the community health centre in Lesliganj where he was put on an oxygen mask. He was further referred to the Medinirai Medical College Hospital in Daltonganj.
A government doctor examined Verma at the Medinirai Medical College Hospital. The doctor described his condition as ‘fatally critical’, as his pulse was nearly missing. Verma was in a sinking state, as his oxygen percentage had fallen below 60 per cent.
The doctor said he was given cardiac pulmonary resuscitation but he succumbed to death.
Commandant of the JAP 8 Bn Lesliganj Chandan Kumar Sinha said, “We have not found any suicidal note left by the deceased.”
The Commandant further said, “We will scan his call details, SMS messages and WhatsApp texts. He further added, “The fellow jawans have traced his cell phone.”
“There would be a thorough probe into this incident. All aspects of the suicide will get investigated.” reiterated the Commandant.
The fellow jawans accused the DSP and the Major of the JAP 8 Bn. As they believed the two officials gave rude treatment to Verma and so the latter chose to end his life by hanging.
The Commandant said, “We have heard these allegations against some of the officials of the JAP 8 Bn. It would be thoroughly inquired into. Our investigation will be open, neutral and transparent. We will do all to find out the causes behind Verma’s death.”
