Jamshedpur, Oct 22: A nip in the air has been felt during early morning and late evening hours in most parts of Jharkhand during the past two days, suggesting that winter is around the corner.

Minimum temperatures in various parts of the state have seen a dip of almost 3°C, now ranging between 14°C to 20°C.

Residents in most parts of the state on Saturday woke up to a comparatively pleasant morning. Dry weather prevailed over Jharkhand.

The lowest minimum temperature of 14.1°C was recorded at Gumla.  The minimum temperature hovered around 16°C in Ranchi and  Daltonganj while Jamshedpur notched around 20°C.

“The wind pattern over the state has changed. It is fluctuating between northerly and westerly. Usually, such wind patterns lead to a fall in minimum readings,” explained Abhishek Anand, head of IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre.

Weathermen at IMD’s Regional Met Centre at Alipore in Calcutta issued a forecast of dry weather over Jharkhand for the next 48 hours. ” Weather conditions will be dry with a clear sky over Jharkhand during the next two days,” said a duty officer.

Meanwhile, the low-pressure area over the north Andaman Sea and adjoining areas of the south Andaman Sea and Southeast Bay of Bengal with the associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 Km above mean sea level persists.

It is very likely to move west-northwestwards and concentrate into a depression over east-central and adjoining the southeast Bay of Bengal later this evening and move northwestwards intensifying further into a deep depression.
