Ranchi: The Jharkhand government has allocated Rs 5 crore 15 lakh 42 thousand for establishment expenditure at rural allopathy health sub-centres across the state for the financial year 2026-27, with a focus on ensuring continuous availability of essential medicines including those used to treat snakebites and dog bites.
How the Funds Will Be Used
As per the order issued by Additional Chief Secretary Ajay Kumar Singh, the largest share of Rs 3 crore 5 lakh has been earmarked for medical supplies. The remaining funds cover supplies and materials (Rs 92 lakh), office equipment (Rs 72 lakh), electricity expenses (Rs 38 lakh 22 thousand), office expenses (Rs 7 lakh 30 thousand), and uniforms (Rs 90 thousand).
Key Directives Issued
All drawing and disbursing officers have been directed to prioritise procurement of essential and seasonal disease medicines, maintaining at least four months of stock at all times. Hospitals must ensure round-the-clock availability of snakebite and dog bite treatment medicines. Only medicines with at least 80 percent remaining shelf life are to be procured, with strict quality checks mandated. All hospitals must display the list of available medicines at a prominent location for public information. Civil Surgeons of each district will serve as nodal officers for monitoring drug availability and must submit monthly reports to the directorate.
